I am the youngest of four children in my family which typically meant that I was always the last to get an opportunity at anything fun or meaningful. Whenever I had an opportunity to do something, whether it was helping paint the fence or just fetching a paint brush, I took it on to prove I could do more.
People rarely think that the young kid fresh out of college can provide much value, so I used the same approach to make a name for myself. I took on every challenge and opportunity I could get my hands on. If someone left the company or moved roles, I made sure I was the first person to ask if I could fill in their role.
For the last ten years, I have been doing this over and over again, helping build a division from one million dollars in revenue to now over twenty million. I have spent most of my time in operations, creating processes and procedures so we could continue to scale our division. With 8 or 9 different positions (I’ve lost track) in the last 10 years, I have found success in the ability to change and adapt. I have learned a lot from doing things the wrong way and have had to correct things that I have built often. I am now in my second year of sales management with a team of seven for one of the largest landscape companies in the mid-west.
I have always tried to surround myself with people that are smarter than I am. Being apart of the Rising Tide is the most intentional I have ever been with this. I feed off other people’s energy and success, it helps motivate me to be better. Being around people that push each other to be their best is the quickest way to become successful. I want everyone in the group to challenge me and each other to push a little harder, take a little more risk and think bigger! I will do my best to return the favor as well as lean on the skills I have learned throughout my career to give guidance to the group.
I am a process oriented person, I like taking a process and making it come to life, and I really enjoy leading people. Many of the problems we face with starting a business or building a business can lead back to a process issue and I look forward to working with the group to achieve each and every one’s goals! We are accountable to each other and together we will rise!
